VELUX Support - All Windows

My window does not close during rain, what should I do?

If a VELUX electric or solar window does not close during rainfall, there are steps that can be taken to ensure the rain sensor is able to perform as expected.

Check for obstructions
Ensure the sensor is not being shaded or covered by an obstacle such as a tree or a wall, which is preventing moisture from contacting the sensor.

Remove protective coating
For electric windows, ensure the rain sensor is clean and clear of debris, as well as removing any protective coating that may still be on the sensor.

Check connections (solar windows)
If your window is solar powered, please ensure that the external solar cell (which also houses the rain sensor) is plugged in, and there cable is not trapped in between the sash and the frame.

Correct positioning with external blind products
If you have roller shutter or awning blind installed on an electric window, ensure that the rain sensor is installed correctly (the rain sensor is placed on the external shutter/awning blind - please see this installation guide).

If you have a roller shutter or awning blind installed on a solar window, ensure that the solar cell and rain sensor have also been moved to the external shutter/awning blind. The solar cell for the window and the external shutter/awning should be visible at the top of the shutter/awning side by side as shown below.
