Why is authentication required by the app?

VELUX ACTIVE with NETATMO and VELUX App Control are secured to prevent unauthorised users from unlocking your home. 
Unlocking requires your smartphone to have retrieved a specific authentication key from the gateway. 
Users that have not authenticated are unable to unlock the home from their app, open the windows, or install a new product.

There are two ways to authenticate:
  • The authentication is automatically ensured during the installation of the gateway.
  • The authentication is ensured by pressing the red alert bar named "Authentication required" and then follow the instructions by pressing "Start Authentication".
(please ensure that the smartphone and gateway are close to each other (approx. 20 cm) and both are connected to the same 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network)

The authentication is stored directly on the smartphone for security reasons. You will be required a new authentication process if you change your smartphone or device or if you log out of your app.

Note: You can always unlock your home by using the departure switch or a KLI wall switch.
