Here are 6 simple things to check that you have selected the right VELUX Roof Windows for your project:
Step 1
How much daylight do you want?
- What kind of room is it - consider how much daylight and view you want
- Consider how many roof windows and what sizes
- VELUX Roof Windows are easy to combine together
- VELUX Roof Windows help bring daylight deep into rooms, making them brighter and feel much larger
Step 2
How would you like your roof windows to open?
- It is important to ventilate your room to bring in fresh air, remove humidity (for example from cooking) or simply to cool the room
- INTEGRA® electric Centre-Pivot Roof Windows are ideal for when windows are out-of-reach, allowing you to operate them from anywhere in the building or just for adding that extra level of comfort
- Top-Hung Roof Windows are ideal for when the bottom handle can be reached. They open outwards to provide extra headroom and views.
Step 3
What internal finish would you like – Natural pine or white?
- Choose from the warmth of natural pine or contemporary white finish
- VELUX White Roof Windows offer a stylish, white finish and are moisture resistant, making them ideal for rooms with high humidity such as bathrooms and kitchens.
- VELUX White Roof Windows also complement other white windows and doors in your house.
Step 4
Consider if you should upgrade the glazing
- For Roof Windows installed above head height, we suggest you ensure your glazing has an inner pane that is laminated for additional safety. This means that if the glass accidentally breaks, the glazing does not shatter
- VELUX offer an optional laminated inner pane for Centre-Pivot and Top-Hung Roof Windows
- All VELUX INTEGRA® electric Roof Windows and Flat Roof Windows come with additional safety glazing as standard
- Optional increased energy efficient glazing, including triple glazing, is also available on Centre-Pivot Roof Windows.
Step 5
Ensure your room is energy efficient
- VELUX Roof Windows are very energy efficient; however there are a number of windows available with improved energy efficiency
- Ensure your installer has insulated around the windows. VELUX provide a number of products to help make this quick and easy
- You may also wish to consider a VELUX Solar Hot Water System which can provide up to 70% of a home’s annual hot water requirements (See www.velux.co.uk/solar for more information)
