PROJECT WITH RULES
With the dark varnish for the wooden planking, the architects have endowed the building with a feeling of solidity. In contrast to this, the interior wooden paneling is a neutral white and is very reserved in appearance. The client himself applied the varnish and attached the wooden planking on the facade. In order to make this possible, the architects drew up a list of rules, which gave exact instructions on what to do. The client, however, had to be able to implement the ideas without any training in the relevant craftmanship skills.
The facade planking shows just how good this form of collaboration between architect and client can be. The aim was to attach three different plank widths vertically. The sections were to finish only above the windows. These "basic rules" resulted in the facade fields which are visible today. They lend structure to the outside of the building and give the house its own unique and special character.
