MATERIALS AND INTERIOR COLOURS
The whiteness, which is in fact a full ivorywhite palette, has been carefully chosen all the way through the renovation project of the attic space. This colour is used very distinctly in all materials from carpets, stones and surfaces in the kitchen and in all the painted areas. A light and floating atmosphere is stressed in every detail through the apartment with the use of glass in half of the roof and on the roof beams, the horizontal glass shelves and, yes, even the cubic screen enclosing the fireplace.
The Gloriettegasse project is a symphony of openness and flotation of lightness in the attic. Steel-knobs and glossy-painted surfaces also add up to this "frozen" feel.
GLASS ROOF - CONSTRUCTION AND IDEA
Every non-supporting wall has been removed to create an entirely open space in the living room and reorganise the plan itself. What is particularly spectacular, however, is that half of the roof-beams are made of glass, which visually and optically supports the floating roof-construction.
A band of huge and almost squareshaped VELUX roof windows underlines the horizontal rhythm with the book shelves that are also made of glass. Shadow-joints and mirror-effects built between the building components correspond and unite the vertical as well as the horizontal lines. Certainly the idea is to create a peaceful living space full of harmony and air without borders under the living attic.
