The lumen output from the VELUX Sun tunnel can be compared to the lumen output from typical well-known light sources (bulbs, fluorescent tubes etc.) mounted in a typical lamp.

Every lamp has a fixture efficiency indicating the fraction of light from the light source that will be emitted from the lamp.

Fixture efficiency varies strongly depending on lamp design and for simplicity a fixture efficiency of 60% is considered typical.
