LET THE SKY INTO YOUR HOME WITH ROOF WINDOWS
INVISIBLE LATTICE TRUSSES

If the lattice trusses in your roof are already visible and unenclosed, everything is ready for installing VELUX roof windows – as this type of roof construction offers endless opportunities for bringing light and air into your home.

Remember that it is the pitch of the opening’s surfaces that determines where and how the light falls - so start by deciding on what you want to achieve. And when you install the window itself,

you will see how suitable your roof construction is for the use of VELUX linings which offer you limitless opportunities for letting the sky in.

The following is a brief checklist of some of the practical considerations you need to bear in mind when fitting roof windows:

REMEMBER
  • This solution is highly suitable for houses with flat roofs where the lattice trusses cannot be removed or need to be retained for aesthetic reasons.
  • Start by deciding how you want the light to be diffused in the room – this will determine the shape of the light shaft.
  • Also remember to look at the house from the outside before deciding on the positioning of the windows.
  • Choose a window size compatible with the rafter modules.
  • Only pivot windows should be used.
  • Discuss electrical operation before installing the roof window. Bundled conductor cable should, in any case, be installed from the outset. Electrically-operated roof windows, blinds and awnings are recommended for windows that are inaccessible.
  • Opt for maintenance-free polyurethane windows for the more inaccessible location.
  • Choose light colours for the opening itself. Colours can absorb up to 10% of the light.
